Downloading ISO's From ThePurpleCube F.A.Q
« on: April 30, 2009, 07:01:01 PM »
I am still shocked to see how many people here ask how to download games, whether it be, " Do I download all parts?", Do I download mirrors?", "Where's the download link?" etc..

This is going to be a quick FAQ on how to download games from here.

1. What do I do if I see a game that has more than one part?

You download all parts and then extract with WinRAR/7z/ExtractNow once downloaded to combine them.

2. Why are the games in parts when the games only uses one disc?

The game is put in parts so it's easier for the uploader and downloader to either upload or download without you getting pissed off that you've gotten to 99% and it stops.

3. What are the mirrors there for?

The mirror parts are there for individuals that are having troubles downloading from various servers, for example megaupload. You not need to download the mirror parts unless you are having problems downloading from the original server.

4. Do I download the mirror parts aswell as the other parts?

No, the mirror parts are the exact same parts as the other links.....You'd be wasting your time downloading mirror parts and the original parts.

5. Where is the download link?

The download link is the url parts of games that lead to sites like megauplaod and ifile. You'll notice these links under the game cover.

6. Why in the description of games at MegaUpload it says "demo"?

The description says demo to give the game less of a chance of getting deleted from MegaUpload. Do not worry..The game is 100% full and not a demo

7. I see a (U) or (E) after the title of the game I'm looking for, what do that mean?

(U) stands for USA, which are NTSC format, (E) stands for Europe, Which are PAL format. If you don't live in any of these continents...just download the format which the games you already use are....for example, In Australia we use PAL format, so you download games with (E). But, do not worry if the game your looking for is in a different format...as I find I have better results with different formats anyway.

8. What does ''oRARs'' mean?

oRARs are backups of games made by a professional group. In general games with ''oRARs'' in their title are  the best backups, they also contain an NFO (info) file with information about the release.

9. Some PAL games I download contain passwords, what is the password.
If the PAL game is uploaded by Zhorax, the password is simply "zhorax". If the game was uploaded by DongerZ, the password is "jasper".

10. Okay, I downloaded the game, how to make the parts into 1 iso file?

There is a detailed tutorial here: http://thepurplecube.org/forums/index.php?topic=229.0

11. Okay, I finally got the game into one ISO or .gcm file, How do I burn it to a regular DVD-R or mini DVD-R?

There is a detailed tutorial here: http://thepurplecube.org/forums/index.php?topic=134.0

12. I use a dolphin emulator, how do I play GC games with it?

There is a detailed tutorial here: http://thepurplecube.org/forums/index.php?topic=358.0

If anyone would like something else added to this F.A.Q just leave a reply here or just PM me. Please don't post your problems in this thread, there are sections here designed just for posting your problems in the right area.
